The 31st annual meeting of the Cognitive Neuroscience Society (CNS 2024) kicked off in Toronto with 1,400 participants! Today’s sessions included the Data Blitz session, Poster Session A, and the keynote lecture by Sheena Josselyn (Hospital for Sick Children and The University of Toronto) about research to understand “engrams,” long-lasting physical brain changes that are thought to encode memories. We closed out the day with our Welcome Reception and Joint SANS & CNS Social. Check out some highlights in photos and tweets below.
Good morning #CNS2024!
We’ll be live tweeting throughout #CNS2024 with help from @Nadezhda_Neuro and @julescardarelli. We’ll also be RTing coverage from others. Let’s light up this meeting’s hashtag! pic.twitter.com/R6j0YWkNgg— CNS News (@CogNeuroNews) April 13, 2024

Researchers can now watch neurons as they are allocated for engrams using an inexpensive endoscope, essentially seeing how a memory unfolds in a mouse…bringing us closer to #scifi#CNS2024 @sjo09 pic.twitter.com/TzDPDv8IEz
